It was cool but clear on Sunday,
October 23, 2005, when the Mount Horeb youth and their advisors visited the Corn
Maze at Bridgemont Farms in Mount Jackson. The maze was laid out as a giant
dinosaur in keeping with this year's theme "Dinosaurs."
Upon arriving the group divided into two teams and began their
quest.
The corn stalks were very tall and thick - -
- with narrow paths about three feet wide - -
- and with many dead ends.
One of the groups stops at one of the many stations in the maze
to read about a particular type of dinosaur and make a crayon rubbing of it - -
- then discuss directions to the next station.
Occasionally they would meet other groups or couples who were
also going through the maize and compare notes.
Of course there was always time to pose for pictures.
After completing the maize the two teams sat down and compared
their results. They were tired from the three hour walk but had learned a lot
more about the life and habits of the dinosaur species.
Some of the youth then tried to navigate the nearby children's
maze. It was called the "Chicken Maze" and was made in grass with
plastic separating walls.
With the excitement behind them, they headed for home - - until next year
perhaps?
