Statement of
Purpose:
"To make
children disciples of Christ through systematic learning experiences from the
Bible. Using a classroom rotation model, we will reinforce Bible concepts to
guide them through life".
Faith Journeys is a rotational
Sunday school program started in 2001.Each month, or for a scheduled number of
Sundays, the children learn one primary Bible story by rotating each Sunday to a
different workshop, much like Bible School but at a slower pace. Other churches
have found using this teaching method causes the children to retain more of what
they are taught. The 5 workshops are: art/lesson
(Artful Adventures), puppet/drama (Spirited Acts), cooking (Pinnacle Pantry),
audio/visual (Sunday Cinema), and computer (Digital Disciples).
Not only does Mount Horeb Faith
Journeys have advantages for the students, it does for teachers as well.
Traditionally, volunteers for Sunday School are committed to an entire year.
With this program, a teacher will teach one workshop that is matched to their
talents and gifts for one month only. This also provides an incentive for those
who do not usually teach to participate.
There are some wonderful and
exciting possibilities with this program. It's a wonderful thing, when the
entire church population can be involved in teaching and sharing with our
children the love of God and salvation of men and women though Jesus Christ.

classes may be accessed from the Church School Menu at left.
