The first service in the new sanctuary was held on Easter
Sunday, exactly three years after losing the previous building in a fire. As the
time approaches people begin entering the vestibule or "gathering
place" and sharing thoughts about this eventful day.
A few folks wander in and are seated early to become accustomed
to their new surroundings, enjoy the ambiance and admire the stained glass
window "Adoration of the Magi."
As the time for worship approaches members of the Chancel Choir
file in. Choir robes lost in the fire are on order and will soon be available.
The cross and candleholders on the Communion table were
retrieved from the ruins of the old sanctuary and refinished. They again occupy
their place of honor and enrich our worship experience.
An interlude of music, by Mrs. Janet Wonderley, is provided
prior to the service for a time of reflection and prayer.

Miss Gladys Wonderley, Building Committee Chair, greets everyone
and provides a brief overview of prior events that brought the congregation to
this day. She also served as worship leader for the service.
The Rev. Braxton Garriss gave the children's message to a
dozen or so youngsters dressed in their brightly colored Easter finest.
Our minister's message followed the traditional theme and was
one of encouragement to stay strong in our faith.
Mrs. Elaine Quick accompanied the choir in their special music
and the congregation with hymns.
For comparison, in the late 90s this is what a worship service
looked like in the previous sanctuary.
