Youth Sponsored Chili Cookoff

This event was held on Sunday, March 9, 2008, hosted by the Strengthening Committee and Youth Department. The eighty or so persons in attendance were asked to sample each of the entries and then vote their choice of the best.

An attractive table with fifteen pots of chili awaited the tasters. There was a wide variety of chili from mild to very hot and included conventional chili, chicken chili, venison chili, pasta chili, etc.


After the blessing, samples were collected in small cups and the tasting was underway.


After tasting and voting a return trip to the table with larger bowls provided everyone with lunch. The drinks table stayed very busy and there was also a dessert table to complete the meal.

The votes were tabulated and Charles Patterson won first prize, a chili cooker. Second prize, a chili cookbook, went to Patsy Shreckhise and third prize, a gift certificate to Chili's Restaurant, was awarded to Kevin Freed

A freewill offering was taken and the proceeds will be applied to the building fund debt.
